Gold Calculator FAQ
Simple answers about gold price per gram, scrap gold value, karat purity, manual prices, and how to read your estimate.
How do I calculate gold value?
Gold value is estimated by converting the item weight to troy ounces, multiplying by the karat purity ratio, and then multiplying by the gold price per troy ounce.
What is the gold price per gram?
Gold price per gram is the selected gold price per troy ounce divided by 31.1035. The calculator updates this number when you change currency or enter a manual gold price.
Can I use this as a scrap gold calculator?
Yes. Use multiple-item mode to enter each scrap gold item separately by weight and karat, then compare the total estimate with offers from buyers or refiners.
Why can a buyer offer less than the calculator value?
The calculator shows a market-value estimate. A buyer may deduct testing, refining, resale risk, local demand, and business margin before making an offer.
Which karats are supported?
The calculator supports common purities: 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K, and 24K. Higher karat means more fine gold in the same weight.
Can I enter my own gold price?
Yes. Use the manual price field if you want to calculate from a quote, a local spot price, a buyer price, or another trusted market source.
Does currency change the gold purity calculation?
No. Currency changes the displayed price only. The gold purity calculation still comes from the selected karat ratio.
Is this financial advice?
No. Gold Calculator is for informational estimates only. It is not an appraisal, buyer offer, or financial recommendation.
